Gerard Lemos

Gerard Lemos is a British expert on social policy and the leader of a research team at the well-known firm of Lemos & Crane. He gave a lecture at Framer Framed on 1 February 2015 entitled Outsiders in Contemporary Art as part of the public program for the exhibition artBRUUT. The Framer Framed exhibition presented alented homeless people within the established art scene of Amsterdam, and was organised by Eddie the Eagle Museum, in cooperation with Stichting39.

Gerard Lemos is also the author of several books and reports about social policy and the support of vulnerable groups. Lemos originally studied English and History at the University of York and followed this up with post-graduate certificate in accountancy and finance. Publications by Lemos include The End of the Chinese Dream: Why Chinese People fear the Future published by Yale University Press in 2012. His latest book The Good Prison: Conscience, crime and punishment, which was published in April 2014He has written for the New York Times, The Guardian and the BBC.

Throughout the years, Lemos has occupied several important board positions within different social and cultural organisations, including at INIVA, the British Council, The Place Theatre, Homeless International and was Director of Studies at the School of Social Entrepreneurs. He is currently vice-president of the British Board of Film Classification and visiting professor in international social policy at the Chongqing Business and Technology University, China (since 2006).

He lives and works in London.
